Description
Universal Release Emulsion (URE) is a brush-applied oil-based release agent for releasing plaster from a plaster, fibreglass, or other rigid mould.
It works well as both a sealer and a release agent combined and can be applied to plaster patterns/moulds while they're dry or still damp. Plaster can also then be cast directly onto the damp URE.
Simply spray or brush the emulsion onto the mould. Depending on the porosity of the mould, thoroughly apply a generous coat, brushing out excess material to avoid pooling.
Non-absorbent substrates such as sealed plaster, fibreglass and concrete should need only one generous coat, whilst more absorbent ones like new and old plaster, fibreboard and softwood its best to either seal with shellac sealer first or the mould should be coated with layers of the URE until the surface stays damp and is sealed with a clear surface sheen.
Care must be taken on detailed sections that the emulsion does not congeal or pool in detail or on sharp angles etc.
A repeat coat of URE to the substrate is recommended before each cast is taken.
